As an attorney and devoted listener of “The Naked Bible Podcast,” I can confidently say that Dr. Michael Heiser’s teachings have forever altered my perspective on biblical texts. In fact, they’ve transformed my Sunday mornings from mundane to mind-expanding. Let me explain why:

Dr. Heiser’s deep dives into ancient texts are like archaeological expeditions. With each episode, he brushes away layers of tradition and dogma, revealing hidden gems of insight. His scholarly approach peels back centuries of interpretation, allowing us to see the Bible with fresh eyes.

Imagine sitting at a banquet table laden with footnotes and references. That’s what Dr. Heiser serves up. His meticulous research ensures that every claim is backed by solid evidence. Whether he’s discussing divine council imagery or unraveling enigmatic passages, he invites us to feast on knowledge.

Dr. Heiser is our GPS through the biblical landscape. He doesn’t just point out landmarks; he provides context, historical background, and linguistic signposts. As listeners, we follow his lead, navigating the twists and turns of Scripture. Suddenly, familiar verses gain new dimensions.

4) Mind of the Writers: A Journey Back in Time -

When Dr. Heiser delves into the minds of ancient authors, it’s like stepping into a time machine. He reconstructs their worldview, their cultural milieu, and their theological concerns. Suddenly, passages that seemed baffling become coherent narratives. It’s as if we’re eavesdropping on the original authors.

5) Unmatched Pulpit Messages: A Gourmet Experience -

Comparing Dr. Heiser’s insights to typical sermons is like contrasting a world-class diner with fast food. While pulpit messages often skim the surface, he takes us to the heart of the text. He doesn’t shy away from complex topics; instead, he invites us to savor the richness of Scripture.

Open your eyes

Dr. Heisers approach to scripture is the simplest approach I've ever come across. Allow the Bible to be what it is and read it in the context it was written. He has revived my faith and interest in the word of God.

Inspired to persevere by your teaching on the word

I like the interchange between Dr heiser and Trey when ideas and subjects are introduced to us. It suggests to me that we are invited to enter into the conversation each podcast. I love sensible way Dr Heiser knows so much of OT sharing insights we cannot gather on our own without the scholarly knowledge. I have joined the awakening school of theology for 2022 spring semester so I can work on my knowledge in depth. Keep it up with God's help... Love in Christ Betty.. Prayers for you both

Excellent introduction to 1 Samuel.

The Introduction is very interesting. I enjoy listening to these studies. Dr Bass is very knowledgeable and he helps me think of the content differently than what I have been taught. He encourages thought and questioning.

Well done, good and faithful

Mike will forever be one of the greats because in all his efforts, he has considered his audience as more important than himself (Phil 2:3). His respect for the intelligence of his listeners has been evidenced by his fearlessly digging into the meatier portions of the word with us over the years, and has in no small part encouraged many to leave the pablum of comfortable Churchianity behind in search of the Way of Truth to Life. Proverbs 23:23 tells us buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding. Mike's gift of instruction, understanding, and wisdom, along with testing of difficult areas, has been an audible journey of gold refinement. Definitely worth an exchange of one's time. May the Lord bless you all.

Great Biblical Material

Heiser distills his and many other Bible scholars' research into biblical book and subject teaching for non-scholars. He delves into the thinking of the new and old Testament writers, as well as writers in the inter-testamental period to greatly expand one's understanding of what the writers were communicating. The series covers entire books - Hebrews, Exodus, Ezekiel, etc., and subjects like marriage and divorce in the old and new Testaments, old Testament influences in the Gospels, and material from Heiser's Unseen Realm book. Also he has guest scholars on the podcast from time to time, along with periodic question and answer episodes. It's highly recommended to motivated listeners who want more than the usual Sunday sermon-level fare, or popular Christian books, in an easy-to-listen format.

Good study about Saul

Another example of how the Bible is full of historical accounts as complex and compelling as any modern story or TV show. A very raw account of the first king of Israel being a very flawed human, and the consequences of his misbehavior.

It does not not in any way reflect the imagined intent of the Tenakh/OT (prescribing/approving certain attitudes/actions) - that's the role of SPECIFIC books WITHIN the Bible. Those who imagine that are clearly working off of assumptions, revealing that they actually HAVEN'T read the Bible, merely hopscotched and cherry-picked at best.
