You are in for a galloping-good time in this episode about the Pony Express. Yahoo!

Come with Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo to their library's used book sale where they find a very old and interesting book about the Pony Express. They discover, that if they close their eyes, they can "jump" into a picture in the book and become part of the story!

Kiddos learn interesting facts about the 1860's horse-and-rider Overland Mail Company (the Pony Express), while they learn the true meaning of patience.

Patience is not just waiting –– it is finding a way to be happy while you wait.

Their neighborhood friend, Lizbeth, returns as the librarian, and they meet new friends in 1860 Sacramento: brothers Tobias Lee, Jesse Ray and their mother; a pony express rider, and the Mayor of Sacramento, himself!

Old Mrs. Moody is called up onto the grandstand to grab the mail pouch from the Pony Express rider as he delivers the very first message from St. Joe, Missouri on April 14, 1860!

As always, thank you so much for listening. It means the world.

Nighty Night Digger Dear - a bedtime story

Attention all construction vehicle lovers: this sweet bedtime story is about a tired little excavator––a digger––being tucked in for the night.

After a long day of hard work, even construction trucks need to stop and take a rest! Dump trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, rollers and DIGGERS must cool their engines, wash their windshields, put air in their tires and fill their tanks with gas so they’ll be ready for work in the morning!

“But now, while the stars are in the skies, it’s time to turn off your motor and close your eyes.

No more honking now, not one more little beep! Nighty-night, my Digger Dear––it’s time to sleep!”

I hope you and your little diggers dig this bedtime story-in-a-story.

As always, thank you for listening!

Love, Catbaloo and Old Mrs. Moody

  • Woodsy Lullaby
    Dec 26 2024

I once heard that if you keep very still in the woods at night, you'll hear God's creatures playing a lullaby for all the baby animals of the forest.

"Beneath the thicket, crickets play their sleepy twighlight serenade. Their violins are soft and sweet.

And out in the middle of the big green pond, the trumpeting of papa swan lets all babies know that the day is done.

While in the treetops up above, the nightingale and silver dove play piccolo and silver flute, tweet-tweety toot."

Zip up your sleeping and join Catbaloo and Old Mrs. Moody on their campout at Possum Creek. Listen as each animal adds its beautiful instrument to the symphony of the forest.

You'll be asleep in the blink of an eye.

I hope this lullaby brings you peace. As always, thank you so much for listening.

  • The Goody Goat Cart
    Oct 23 2024

Old Mrs. Moody has a terrible cold, and while she waits to see the doctor, Catbaloo tells her the story of Anderson Kate and the Goody Goat Cart – a beautiful story of giving.

Anderson Kate is a little girl who lives on the mountaintop. One day, she and her mother bake a chocolate cake for Grandmother’s birthday. They put the cake in a little cart, pulled by two darling goats, and Anderson takes it down the mountain to the village in the valley where her grandmother lives. On her way there, she hears the troubles of her neighbors and gives them each a piece of the chocolate cake. By the time she reaches her grandmother’s house, the cake is all gone.

But wonderful things begin to happen on her way back up the mountain. With each stop she makes, she discovers that one neighbor has exactly what another neighbor needs. And by the time she arrives back home, everyone’s needs have been met.

Anderson Kate carried love, hope, and happiness all the way down, and all the way back up the mountainside.

I hope this story fills your heart with the very same.

When Charlotte and her small pony, Sonora, enter the horse race at the county fair, no one thinks they can win. Sonora is much smaller than all of the other horses.

But when Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo overhear Charlotte speaking words of encouragement to her pony - "I love you, pony. You have everything you need to win!" - they sit down with a bag of popcorn to watch the exciting race.

Oh, what a thrill when they realize that it was Charlotte's words of encouragement that gave Sonora the hope and the will that she needed to win! What a race; what a race!

The things we say can either be encouraging or discouraging. This story provides great examples of how the words we choose to use can make all the difference. Words are powerful!

Come and listen to the story and enjoy the sounds and excitement of the county fair!

I truly hope you enjoy the listen! As always, it is my pleasure to create these audio dramas for you and your precious littles!

  • One Day at Kitty Hawk
    Aug 21 2024

Kiddos are invited along on this TIME TRAVEL ADVENTURE with Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo!

They’ll buckle up in the time machine and travel back to Kitty Hawk on December 17, 1903 – just in time to help spin the propeller to start the engine on the first powered flight in history.

Kiddos will hear interesting facts about the Orville and Wilbur Wright and Kitty Hawk and they'll discover that it was because of teamwork and determination that the Wright Brothers saw their dream of flight come true.

When the time machine returns to 2024, Will there be a stowaway aboard? Maybe so! Meeowwww!

Fun activities while and after you listen:

As you buckle your kiddo into their car seat, pretend they're buckling into the time machine with Old Mrs. Moody. Do the countdown together, 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... and off you go!

Raise your hands and grab the imaginary propeller. Give it a good spin with Orville Wright to start the flying machine.

Have a day of making paper airplanes and watch how the air we cannot see keeps the planes aloft.

What do "Little Wilbur" and "Puff Kitty" look like in your imagination? Draw a picture of the kittens.

As always, it was my heart-felt pleasure to produce this audio drama for you and your precious little ones.

    Thank you for listening!

    Jul 22 2024

DUMP TRUCKS, EXCAVATORS, and JACKHAMMERS, oh my! They’re fixing the road right in front of Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo’s houses and it is very exciting to watch!

But, when the road crew digs through the water line with an excavator, they'll be without water for the rest of the day. Oh dear, now they won't be able to get any of their daily chores done. So, they decide to make the most of their situation. It’s a good time to get comfy, to take a rest, and listen to a good story.

Catbaloo tells Old Mrs. Moody the tale of Marty Mole—a little mole who loves to dig and dig and dig. Marty has a sweet daddy who helps him understand, that working hard is important, but knowing when to stop and how to rest are important, too.

If your kiddos love construction equipment, the fantastic sounds they’ll hear in this episode will make it one of their favorites.

Don’t miss Marty’s bedtime story at the end – it’s a sweet one.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing and recording this one for your kiddos.

    Thank you for listening!
