  • 95: Grief and missing someone you love over Christmas

    I got really techy and recorded the Instagram live I did over at @the.selfishpodcast. Here it is x


    Just had a little chat about grief & missing someone you love over the holidays 🤍. A few thoughts from me:

    - it’s ok to set boundaries. This is strongly encouraged!
    It’s also ok to opt out of Christmas and other festive events.
    I like to have a pre planned “script/template” of what I will say if it all gets too much.


    - introduce your own traditions that include your loved one. This might be making a donation in their name or something else that is meaningful to you. No pressure to do this, or work this out straight away, in your own time and when it makes sense 🤍


    - incorporate them into the day/ your celebrations. For us this is an ornament on the tree, lighting a candle for our boy, and making a toast before we eat.
    It could also include playing their favourite song or watching a movie you enjoyed together. Drinking “their” drink, or saving a seat for them at the table.

    You may want to reach out to the host of the event and let them know how you want to honor your loved one ahead of time.


    - make space for your emotions: feel the feelings, cry the tears. Things are so busy this time of year it is easy to hurry yourself along and not have a moment to reflect. You could do this by going on a walk in nature or on the beach. For me it is star gazing.


    - prioritise your wellbeing and self care. What do YOU need to recharge, replenish, restore.

    This week Chloe and Steph interview Bridget Bennett, a holistic health and body image coach, who shares her journey from being a professional bodybuilder to advocating for body positivity. Bridget emphasizes the importance of inner work, self-talk, and mindful consumption of social media.

    She introduces the "catch, challenge, change" method for improving self-talk and suggests creating lists for nourishing and nurturing activities.

    Bridget's course, the Powerful Woman Project, aims to help women love their bodies without dieting. She also discusses the impact of social media and the need to follow accounts that promote body diversity.

    Action Items

    • Catch the negative self-talk and challenge the validity of the statements.
    • Be mindful of what is being consumed on social media and unfollow accounts that make you feel bad about yourself.
    • Create a list of nourishing and nurturing activities to refer to when feeling the urge to emotionally eat.

  • 93: Creating a peaceful Christmas & Astrology for December (two retrogrades!)

    It's December (!) and in this episode Steph shares some Feng Shui tips and tricks so we can create a calmer home this festive season.

    Before we dive into this, we have a chat about our general energy levels at the start of the silly season and Chlo gives us a download on the December astro activities.

    Tips to keep the energy in your home calm:

    • Consider the colors and placement of Christmas decorations to balance the energy in the home
    • Open the back door first to let out negative energy, then open the front door and windows to allow in fresh energy in
    • Clear the energy again after guests leave by opening all the doors and windows.
    • Declutter and dust the home to remove stagnant energy.
    • Use soothing scents like essential oils or incense to create a calming atmosphere.
