Meekness and temperance are part of the provisions that God has given us to overcome the flesh. The faith that’s spoken of in Galatians 5:22 is more than just exercising faith in response to hearing God’s Word, or the gift of faith that’s spoken of in 1 Corinthians 12. It’s an attribute of God, an added measure of faith which He deposits in us as part of His nature. When we stand on God’s statement of faith that He has ‘amened’ the building of His church, then we can expect to be used as His conduits to make that statement come to pass. Don’t come into the body of Christ thinking you won’t have to suffer. Part of the equipment God has given us to accomplish His work on earth is longsuffering. When we get out of ourselves and look at longsuffering from God’s perspective, the effects teach us a lesson: there is no crown without the cross, and we are being transformed by the power of God’s new nature deposited in us.
