    Jan 6 2025

In this episode of Unexplained Arkansas, your host Lisa will discuss the history and rumors of Underwater Ghost Towns of Greers Ferry Lake.

In 1938, Congress established the Flood Control Act which enlisted the U.S. Corp of Engineers to go in and create dams in areas where there were flooding problems around rivers which included the Little Red River in Arkansas. This set the path for 6 communities/towns to be either displaced or covered in water.

Learn about the rumors and the true stories about the beautiful but eerie Greers Ferry Lake!!!

  • Episode 68: The Christmas Killer (Ronald Gene Simmons) Part 2
    Jan 4 2025

In this episode of Unexplained Arkansas, your host Lisa and guest host again to finish this case out, Matt L. one of my long time friends, church family, and FSB family members, discuss the awful life, killings, and death of Ronald Gene Killer.

This is a long one again--I could have made shorter 3 parts but I didn't so you get 2 long parts.

In 1987, Gene went on a killing spree the week before and after Christmas in the Russellville area. He would kill 16 people --14 of which were his own family. Eight of them were children--either his own child or his grandchild. He tried to kill others and did wound more. Evil, pure evil!!

As awful as the events were his life was full of evil as well.

Part 2 is covering the time from of 1981-1990--it will include the awful and brutal murders of 16 people --14 of which were Gene's own family and there are several children--so listener discretion. It's awful and evil to the core.

Listener discretion advised--this episode will have mention of assaults-physical and sexual. There is murder involving young children as well.

I guess the only thing Christmas-like is that I'm gifting you a really terrible, sad, but long episode this week. There's just no way to do it short. To much to cover.

In 1987, Gene went on a killing spree the week before and after Christmas in the Russellville area. He would kill 16 people --14 of which were his own family. Eight of them were children--either his own child or his grandchild. He tried to kill others and did wound more. Evil, pure evil!!

    Dec 16 2024

In this episode of Unexplained Arkansas, your host Lisa and guest host this week, Dorothy-Lisa's awesome sis-in -law, will discuss The Ghost Town of Bruno Arkansas.

So, Bruno, Arkansas, is stated as a "Ghost" town of Arkansas. In the 1800's Bruno boasted many thriving businesses and up to 600 + people in the community. Bruno even had a school district up into the 1970's. After 1974 or so, the Bruno school was consolidated and moved. Over the next 50 years the town would shrink and presently the town has a church and a cemetery.

The last 3-4 miles of the Ten Mile Creek are known to the locals as Ten Mile Creek Bottoms--this is where these supernatural stories come from and are based in around the 1800's before there were automobiles or asphalt roads.

Listen to the full episode to uncover the history of the area and an abandoned home we searched while visiting the town. Also, we did meet a few new friends in town--one specifically is the United Realtor Buddy Bebout. (information below for Buddy--contact him for all your Marion County real estate needs).

    Dec 2 2024

In this episode of Unexplained Arkansas, your host Lisa and guest host Lisa's hubbie, Daryl, will discuss the cold case of Bobo Shinn.

Mary Jimmie "Bobo" Shinn, was an art instructor but she renovated and sold homes on the side. She had a home newly renovated that she wanted to sell located in her home town of Magnolia, Arkansas. She told her friends that she was going to show the home to an unknown man on July 20, 1978. Upon showing the property to the man, Bobo would never be seen or heard from again. Only her vehicle would be found.

Road blocks, leads, composites, witnesses, sightings, exhumations. Tons of activity over the years but no Bobo.

This episode was requested by our listener Melanie D. from Magnolia. This is near and dear to her and her family-and the whole community.

I would urge if anyone has any information no matter how small please contact the Columbia County Sheriff's Office at 870-234-5331.
