VICTOR FRENCH'S CHILDREN REMEMBER

  • Summary

  • We’ve entered the month of December, which means that holiday celebrations areunder way and Little House’s 50 th Anniversary year will soon enter the history books – orwill it? The show premiered in September of 1974, so the Anniversary year rolls on.More on that to come in later shows. One of the things we’ll remember about this December 5 episode of the podcast is thatAlison and Dean did it without the support of our very special host, Pamela Bob, whoZooms in each week from Brooklyn, NY. We missed her and we can tell you today thatPamela is fine, but we can also say that the reason she wasn’t with us on Thanksgivinggives us the opportunity to say thanks for her swift return. We’ll leave Pamela to sharethe details of her Thanksgiving absence as she chooses. In the meantime, we are deeply thankful for our Bonnethead family, who allow us toconnect and continue the Little House Love that began with the premiere of Little Houseso many years ago.Today we’re very excited to welcome the children of a man who was there right fromthe start of the Little House adventure early in 1974. We are speaking of Victor French,Little House’s beloved Mr. Edwards. Two of Victor’s three children, Tracy Hall and herolder brother, Victor Allen French (not a Junior, BTW) were in town to take part in2024’s final Little House on the Prairie tours of Big Sky Movie Ranch on December 1. Theday before the tours Alison and Dean welcomed Tracy and Victor into the studios ofUBNGo in Burbank. It was a wonderful conversation about their unforgettably talenteddad that focused on his portrayal of Isiah Edwards, the transforming power of the role, his passion for the craft of acting, and his children’s remembrances of Victor as a veryspecial dad.We also heard about Victor and Tracy’s commitment to their dad’s creative legacy; theyhave a new online store (see below) and are working on the publication of his theoriesof acting titled, A Matter of Choice. If you worked with Victor or loved his work on stageand screen, we think A Matter of Choice is a “must-read.”For our Patrons we will continue with Tracy and Victor focusing on their gleeful playtimewith their dad that made every day in the French house a kind of laughing, screamingHalloween adventure. Those of us who worked with Victor can totally relate to his extraordinary ability to make us laugh, cry, or scream as the circumstances evolvedduring so many wonderful scenes.A SPECIAL NOTE FOR THE HOLIDAYS (Written by Pamela):Little House on the Prairie is at the heart of what so many are most grateful for, not justbecause of the timeless stories it told, but because of the lasting impact it has had on allof us. The show brought families together, fostering a sense of community and sharedvalues that transcend generations. It taught us about resilience, love, and theimportance of finding gratitude even in the most challenging times. For many ofus, Little House was more than just entertainment—it was a source of comfort, inspiration, and connection to a simpler, yet deeply meaningful way of life. It has shapedhow we view family, community, and the world around us, and continues to remind usto appreciate the little things in life. Today, as we gather with loved ones, let usremember these values as a country, a community, as human beings.Haven’t signed up for Patreon yet?
