• The Family You Choose with Callia Thompson | Season Finale
    Dec 24 2024

Classmates, join me and my “sister from another mister,” Callia Thompson, for the season finale of What School Didn’t Teach Me. This episode continues last week’s conversation with a meaningful twist, wrapping up our “Investing in Yourself” series.

We explore the powerful reminder that your community is a choice. Being intentional and mindful about the friends you connect with is essential because, after all, friends are the family you choose. Callia and I share how our loved ones have shaped our personal development, the importance of mutual support, and the value of loyalty, security, and taking up space in our relationships.

Get ready for an inspiring and heartfelt discussion that feels like the perfect way to close this season.

  • A Mother's Investment with Callia Thompson
    Dec 17 2024

Classmates we’ve talked about a lot of investments this season, this week I want us to have a conversation about other’s impact on us. Specifically, a mother’s investment. Join me for part one of a conversation between me and my sister-friend Callie Thompson, as we talk about the joys of being a (seemingly) only child, and how a mother’s impact leaves a lifelong imprint.

  • Slow Down
    Dec 10 2024

Classmates we are back! As we close out the year, and this season of our podcast, I want to take the time to remind you how important it is to slow down. Sometimes self care is as simple as learning to show gratitude in the most mundane parts of life. Chewing food slowly, smelling your coffee before you drink it, choosing to embrace the present moment, while you work for your future. This episode might be my favorite all season, and while it took me a while to share it with you, I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I do. Quick update; we are coming to the end of Season 3 this month, our last episode premiers on Dec. 31st, but in the meantime, we're going to keep investing! Make sure you follow us on instagram fur updates at (@wsdtmpod) I love y'all and I LOVE the classroom.First time joining us? Hi! Welcome to the classroom! • Looking For More
    Nov 5 2024

We will only accept what we believe we deserve.

Classmates, when was the last time you looked at a situation and thought "I deserve more than this?" This month, as we invest in our mental health, I want to invite us to strive for more. To not simply accept what we're used to, but to think about what we actually want; in life, from our jobs, and our relationships, and especially from ourselves.

I know that I did not start making radical changes in my lifestyle, until I realized that I did not have to accept certain things in my life. I could have

    - better physical health,

    - better mental health,

    - I could change the way I thought about myself,

    - and how the relationships around me, made me feel.

That is my hope for all the classmates. Join me in the conversation, as we look for more in life.

  • Assimilation, Bad Memory, and Terrible Childhood Shows with Aiyana Sha'niel
    Oct 31 2024

Classmates, I decided to close this month out with an episode more light hearted and full of laughter. Join author of "Little Black Poetry Book" Aiyana Sha'niel and I for an hour full of nostalgia and laughs. As we await Aiyana's new book "Hood•Child" , we take a trip down memory lane discussing animation, music from the early 2000's and even what it looked like to have your experience invalidated by people who look like you. • The Benefit of Unconventional Faith
    Oct 22 2024

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. " Hebrews 11:1

I was originally going to name this episode "Don't Be Afraid of Purpose" but it ultimately ended up being a conversation about how important it is that, as a believer, you are okay with moving in conventional faith. That you are okay with your path looking different from others, with following God even when it doesn't look easy, and that you seek praise from Him, instead of the world around you. I hop you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it

  • Proverbs 27:14 with Dr. Kisha Tinson
    Oct 15 2024

Classmates, I would be remiss to have a month about purpose and ambition, without inviting you into my own experience, and the way that choose to step into purpose and faith, and how it shows up around me. This week, join the conversation with my mom, Dr. Kisha Tinson, author of "Dear Single Mom, God Sees You, " as we talk about our non-profit, the HAVE Inc Foundation, how it came to be, and how we continue to step out on faith.
