Kurt Taylor, a self-employed plumber, witnesses the start of the horrifying outbreak. Desperate to reach his family before they fall victim to the ever growing horde of shambling corruption, he flees the scene. In a society with few guns, how can people hope to survive the endless waves of zombies that seek to consume every living thing? With ingenuity, planning, and everyday materials, the group forge their way and strike back at the Hellspawn legions.

Kurt Taylor and his family have battled the living and the dead and now find themselves on the run, their home reduced to ashes. With unimaginable horror lying in wait around every corner, the onset of winter and the plunging temperatures only add more danger to their precarious existence. They decide to forge ahead and try to reach the protection of others who have hopefully survived the zombie apocalypse.

A vicious betrayal against Kurt and his family has left the survivors reeling. The cracks that started to appear with the rescue of Debbie and Mike has fractured the group completely. Now the two rival groups must press ahead against all the odds, striving to reach shelter before the winter takes hold. New friends have joined the fray and brought with them an unsettled score. The dangers of the dead are ever present, but they are now joined by a flying spy in the sky. Always watching, always seeking them to satisfy the psychotic whims of their old superior.

Blood from the epic battle stains the ancient stone, shed from both the living and the dead. The massive castle walls provide a period of respite from the unending terror, and the group can finally honor the fallen. As Kurt and his family count the cost of securing their new sanctuary, new friends have joined the fray. Only by pulling together can they hope to have any kind of future in the apocalyptic world.

On Ham Farm, the remnants of the British Army watch as the massive horde approach in the distance. Joining forces with the Smith sisters, they face a race against time to fortify the area before the dead attack. Vastly outnumbered, all they can do is pray their training and arsenal of weapons will see them through the coming battle. If they manage to repel the multitudes of rotting zombies, the real war is only just beginning. Inside the castle, the survivors start to take the safety of the impenetrable fortress for granted.
