Publisher's summary

A standalone gay, paranormal romance with a happy ending!

No one can please a man quite like the Gay Alpha Bear King...

I've been struggling with my sexuality for some time now. I'm engaged to be married with an absolutely beautiful woman named Elizabeth who lays beside me in bed, looking absolutely ravishing. And yet, I feel like she isn't nearly enough for me - more than I deserve in some ways, but not nearly enough in others...

I try my damnedest to repress my hidden feelings, but it seems impossible. I can't sleep at night from thinking about it, and nothing I try seems to get my mind off of the subject. I've had a single homosexual experience in the past, and all it's done is keep my feelings on my mind almost constantly.

I decide to go on a camping trip to decompress for the weekend. Alone. Nothing but myself and a rubber dildo, hoping that I'll have some sort of revelation from the solitude. And I do have a revelation- in the form of the Gay Alpha Bear King, who kindly informs me that I've encroached upon his territory. Now there's only one way to assuage his wrath, and I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty damn sore by the time this weekend is over...

Warning: This book contains lots of hot sex, drama, and adult language.

Decent for a 1 hour

Would you listen to Gay Romance again? Why?

Hell no, the narrator completely ruined it. However, I would read it again in print.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gay Romance?

I liked the story, for a short, this actually had a bit of a story and some drama and angst.

How could the performance have been better?

First of all, the narrator needs to say the words correctly, het-er-o, not, her-eh-to, an several others I won't nitpick. But also, the ends of each sentence were dramatically drawn out, over, and over. I could not have taken this for more than an hour.

Any additional comments?

Rough and crude

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Best for those looking for a story with no romance, rough sex and plenty of crude language. It was a bit strange how the author used correct terminology for body parts then tossed in lots of 4 letter words and gross descriptions.

What was most disappointing about R.P. James’s story?

The "purple" prose which was worse at the beginning, one example: "finger her to a fleshy pulp". Yuck.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Oh, yes. I agree with another reviewer and thought the narrator drew out her words at the ends of the sentences. It was weird and distracting for any type of book, but especially for one with a male character. The use of hands clapping to simulate flesh hitting during sex was strange and distracting too. Why was there a female narrator to begin with for a m/m book which has one female character who just said one or two lines?

Any additional comments?

I felt the title of this book was misleading. The bear didn't come into play until 41 minutes into the 60 minute book. The story is more about a man deciding he was gay (and based on the info. in the book, I think bi would be more accurate) and trying to explore that aspect of his sexuality. The main character has a decision to make after he meets the bear, there wasn't enough given to make his decision seem real. Of course, being the type of book this is, we know what he's going to decide, but it could have been developed more.
