About this listen

Four years is a long time to be away from home, and Jake was anticipating a variety of changes after arriving back post college. With his stepmother and two stepsisters holding down the fort while his father works overseas, he’s coming back to his family eager to reconnect.

Though nothing in life is ever quite that simple. With his older stepsister, Jaimie, still acting as bratty and frustrating as ever, and Kate, his younger stepsister, unusually quiet and clingy, he finds himself walking an odd balance. That’s not even mentioning his stepmother, Rebecca, who seems intent on psychoanalyzing him now that she’s moved on from teaching yoga to practicing therapy.

When Jake discovers a secret within the couch cushions, evidence points to one of the women under the same roof being a total freak. He might have to get a little dirty to find out who, but that excites him in all the wrong ways.

NOTE: This book contains mature sexual themes.

SHORT BUT SWEET

CONSIDERING THAT THE STORY IS READ BY VIRTUAL VOICE. IT WAS REALLY WELL DONE. THE STORY WAS LOADED WITH TABOO & ITS ONLY BOOK 1. ON TO BOOK 2

Excellent story good performance.

This is an erotic and interesting story, well written, and surprisingly well read by the virtual voice. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the reading was done. Except for a few mispronounced words - mostly notably one of the lead characters - the voice was pleasant and well enunciated. Unfortunately the AI voice had difficulty with Isa, pronouncing her name as EE-sa, A-sa, and I-sa. Clearly it needs some instruction there. A few other words could simply have been the result of the “nationality” of the virtual voice. But the story survived this very well making for an excellent “read”.

Amazing

I’m very impressed. It’s my first book from Anya and I’m very glad that I took the chance to read it before it leaves audible. I was amazed by the pacing, the build up, and how much I liked the character interactions.

It's alright

Another fine pseudoincestuous harem novel from Anya Merchant.

This series consists of three very short books. I'm not entirely sure why they weren't put together into one large book; I'm guessing so it's easier to feature cover art of each of the three women separately.

The plot was ok, and I appreciate that some elements carried over from book to book, being resolved later. Not everything felt satisfactorily resolved though.

There were suggestions that some BDSM play would be coming - but that never went anywhere, sadly.

There were a few typos. The book could have benefited from some more editing.

As for the Virtual Voice, I have mixed feelings. The narration was better than expected, surprisingly lifelike - although it mangles pronounciations of some words. I appreciate that tools like Virtual Voice can make books accessible that otherwise would only be available in print. But it seems like perhaps that should be an Amazon feature where readers can opt to have Kindle books read out loud, instead of a feature where authors can put books on Audible as if they are true audiobooks. Also, Virtual Voice seems fine for nonfiction, but for erotic novels like this, it falls flat - there are no character voices, and it can't have emotion or intensity. Also, there are ethical concerns about AI tools like this, both in potentially infringing on taking people's intellectual property, and on depriving people of jobs. All told, it was ok, but I wish the author had paid a voice actor instead.

very interesting

I think I would rather a person narrate the book. AI breakers the immersion because it can't pronounce and change the voice for different characters
