Sweet romance with fantastic narration

When I started listening to When the Words are Spoken, I was immediately rooting for the romantic leads, Sheridan and Michael. Michael, a professor of literature, is a bit grumpy at times and in many ways clueless. Sheridan, a beautiful former student and current colleague of his has to essentially spell out her love for him with BIG CAPITAL LETTERS. It's actually pretty sweet. Michael just can't fathom Sheridan being interested in him. Why does Michael feel so undeserving...? I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that both Sheridan and Michael have had trauma in the past and they help each other recover and move on. This is as much a story about healing and trust as it is about love. The narrator does an excellent job of telling their story and honoring the emotions of the characters even during some very intense scenes. This is a book I highly recommend listening to on audiobook!

An unexpected romance

This was a wonderful romance between a tender-hearted and vivacious college professor and her former teacher and mentor. I say it was an unexpected romance, only because I’m used to the male love interest having a bit more swagger. Instead, he was adorably awkward and inexperienced. Together, these two work through past traumas and come up swimmingly on the other side. It was refreshing to listen to a romance capitalized on mutual respect, rather than purely lust. Speaking of lust, there are definitely some steamy parts, that were handled beautifully by the narrator. In fact, I'd say that the narrator did a great job of bringing the story and the characters to life. Wonderfully written and read story!

Wonderful Love Story

I really enjoyed this story. It jumps in quickly to the romance, which made me wonder where the story was going to go. Typically, I don't see the lovers in books get together that quickly. However, their relationship road isn't without it's bumps. The challenges they have have more to do with obstacles within themselves. Narration was excellent. Kelley Huston did a great job of storytelling. *I was given a review promo code of this book in exchange for an honest review

A passionate love story, set in the 80’s or 90’s

This is a passionate love story that has an innocent and classic feel to it. Two people fall for each other and help each other heal from previous traumas they endured. In some ways, these lovers couldn’t be more different, but they share a love of literature and an enormous amount of respect and admiration for one another. These two aren’t short of passion either. There are extremely explicit scenes, but the narrator has a way of making them feel intimate and private.

Speaking of the narrator, she is really fantastic. I’ll be watching out for other books that Kelley Huston narrates. She’s a great storyteller and clearly has some acting chops. Each character was easy to identify by the way she changed her voice up.

When the Words Are Spoken is a beautiful story about healing and finding a much deserved happily ever after. I am anxious to read or listen to other books in Simone Beaudelaire’s Hearts of Winter series.

Sheridan and Michael

I liked this story . Sheridan and Michael knew what they wanted but it took a while to get there. She always wanted Michael, but there were secrets that were keeping them apart. Kelly Huston narration was very good. I was gifted this audio and offered my review

Couldn't finish it

The narrator was ok but the story needed development. Some parts are bstraight up porn . The language used is too vulgar and immature. I couldn’t get myself to finish the book to be honest. It was awful. I did receive this book free in exchange for a review
