Ashley Dyer is the pen-name of novelist, Margaret Murphy, working in consultation with forensics expert, Helen Pepper. Splinter in the Blood, and its sequel, The Cutting Room, are thrillers set in Liverpool, England. Margaret Murphy has published 12 internationally acclaimed psychological crime novels under her own name, plus 5 forensic thrillers as Ashley Dyer and AD Garrett. She is currently writing London-based thrillers as M.K. Murphy. A past Chair of the Crime Writers Association (CWA), she also chaired the CWA's Debut Dagger for two years. In 2000, Margaret founded Murder Squad, a self-promotion collective of ‘midlist’ writers, two of whom have since been honoured with the CWA’s top award, the Diamond Dagger. A former RLF Writing Fellow and Reading Round Lector, she has taught on Masters courses in Creative Writing at both Liverpool JMU and Manchester Met University. A Short Story Dagger, HRF Keating, and CWA Red Herring award winner, she has been longlisted for the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger and shortlisted for the ‘First Blood’ critics award and CWA Dagger in the Library. Helen Pepper is a Senior University Lecturer in Policing. She has been an analyst, Forensic Scientist, CSI, Crime Scene Manager and police trainer and has co-authored, as well as contributed to, professional policing texts. She has worked as forensic consultant on several hit television series, including Vera, Shetland, and Bancroft.
