Brenda Hancock learned the art of story-telling from her rural northeast Texan grandmother who used to regale the family with stories about "the time it rained fish" among many others from the first half of the twentieth century. Added to those were the stories of her mother, an urban Parisian (France, not Texas) whose tales were full of the intrigue and dangers of her experiences as a courier for the French resistance during World War II. Although Hancock wrote poetry, short stories and magazine articles, her first published book is the compilation of those stories her mother told in the biography, ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES. With her second published biography, TALENT LUCK COURAGE, Hancock compares and contrasts the lives of her mother (Nicole Holland) and her uncle, Robert Clary (of "Hogan's Heroes," "Days of Our Lives," and "The Young and the Restless"), their survival during World War II, and their influence on the second generation of Holocaust survivors. ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES--SECOND EDITION recounts in the revised epilogue her mother's final years and the courageous spirit that helped her defeat various illnesses and deal with the loss of her beloved husband. Added to her biographical writings, Brenda Hancock has published two novels MISCHIEVOUS MATCHMAKERS and STARTING OVER. A featured author at the May, 2019 Books in Bloom Festival in Eureka Springs, AR, Hancock currently lives in Chelsea, AL with her husband and their two spoiled rotten little dogs.
