Corey Kupfer is an expert strategist, dealmaker and business consultant with more than 30 years of professional negotiating experience as a successful entrepreneur, and attorney. The founder and president of Authentic Enterprises, LLC and the Authentic Business Academy, Corey is dedicated to inspiring authenticity in business through speaking, training and consulting on topics such as authentic negotiating, authentic deal-making, building authentic business relationships, and authentic conversations about difference. In his book, Authentic Negotiating: Clarity, Detachment & Equilibrium – The Three Keys to True Negotiating Success & How to Achieve Them, Corey draws on decades of experience effectively negotiating business deals and disputes to reveal the real, internal work it takes to become a truly great negotiator. Corey holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and runs his own Manhattan-based firm, Kupfer & Associates, PLLC, where he applies his passion for negotiating and deal-making to advance clients’ business interests. He previously practiced law at Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson, working primarily on public offerings, private placements and leveraging buyout transactions, and labor and employment law. Corey also has extensive experience in corporate and real estate matters from his work at Herrick, Feinstein LLP and in the registered investment advisor space as a Partner at Hamburger Law Firm. In 2011, he won both the General Corporate Law and Attorney of the Year awards at New York Enterprise Report’s Best Accountants and Attorneys for Growing Business Awards. A passionate advocate and leader in the entrepreneurial space, Corey has been member of the New York Chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization since 2008, serving as a board member from 2010 – 2015 including two terms as chapter president. He is a professional member of the National Speakers’ Association and an in-demand speaker at conferences nationwide, where he tackles issues such as corporate structuring, entity and platform design, mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurship, visioning and planning, employee attraction and retention vehicles, and succession planning and implementation – in addition to his focus on authenticity in business relationships, deals and negotiations. Corey has also been a keynote and breakout speaker and facilitated workshops for companies and organizations such as Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Fidelity Institution Wealth Services, AICPA, New York State Bar Association, Move The Crowd, Citibank, Schwab Advisor Services, NYC Fast Trac, New Venture Class and Social Venture Network. He has appeared in numerous media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Investment News, FinancialPlanning.com, WealthManagement.com, New York Daily News and DailyWorth.com. Some of his high-profile clients include bestselling business author David Bach and Ajay Gupta, financial advisor to Tony Robbins. Active with many nonprofit and public-interest organizations, Corey sat on the board of directors of Coro New York Leadership Center, an organization that trains future leaders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, and was a co-founder and member of the board of directors of 1+1+1=ONE, an organization committed to using art and civic dialogue for positive social change in race relations and young women’s empowerment. For many years, he was a leader in the New York community for The Hunger Project, an organization empowering people to end their own hunger. In addition, Corey often provides pro-bono legal services to many other organizations. Corey lives with his wife in Oradell, New Jersey, and has offices in New York City and Marina del Rey, California.
