CRAIG H. ROELL is a native of Victoria, Texas. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, and is Professor of History at Georgia Southern University. His latest book, _Matamoros and the Texas Revolution_ (2013) won FIRST PLACE in the 2015 LA BAHÍA AWARDS by the Sons of the Republic of Texas. This Award, administered since 1968 through the Kathryn Stoner O'Connor Foundation, represents the best in the scholarship of Texas history. The Texas Revolution was very divisive among Tejanos, Mexicans, Irish, and Anglos. He is also the author of _The Piano in America, 1890-1940_ (University of North Carolina Press, 1989) and _Remember Goliad!_ (Texas State Historical Association, 1994).
