Books have always been a big part of my life, from the time I was old enough to trot over to the library, or curled up at the cottage in my teenage years with a great paperback thriller, and beyond. I think fiction offers one of the best ways to learn about history, I know I'm drawn to historical novels for that reason. And I always wanted to write about what I most enjoy. That first novel took a long time - ten years - but now The Witch of Babylon is a national bestseller and has been sold around the world. It's the first book in a Trilogy featuring New York art dealer, John Madison. "The Witch" was chosen by Amazon.ca's editors as one of the best mystery/thrillers of the year and became a finalist for the Crime Writers Association (U.K.) Debut Dagger. CNN called it "one of six enduring historical thrillers" along with novels by Agatha Christie, Kate Mosse, Wilbur Smith, Umberto Eco and Dan Brown. It was followed by The Book of Stolen Tales which I found a joy to write because it gave me the opportunity to cast a whole new light on ancient fairy tales. Researching the last in my trilogy, The Angel of Eden, proved fascinating as the evidence mounted to prove the Garden of Eden's real location. Set partly in Iraq, and partly in New York, the three novels that make up the Mesopotamian trilogy are a tribute to that country's great ancient mythology and to the reporters and journalists who've risked their lives to bring us it's recent history.
