David Skuodas is an advocate for urban waterways, an engineer, a storyteller, and a life long learner. He works as the Design, Construction, and Maintenance Director at the Mile High Flood District in Denver, where he's been since 2010. At the District he works in the owner project management role for flood control and stream restoration projects in challenging urban areas. Prior to his time working at the District he spent 9 years as an engineering consultant in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Spending time in both the public and private sides of the construction industry has given him insights into some eye opening aspects of the client/vendor relationship. David received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in December of 2000, is​ a registered Professional Engineer, a Certified Floodplain Manager, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Toastmasters Competent Communicator. He's also the co-host of a podcast called Middle Aged Wisdom with his wife, Nancy. He draws literary inspiration from authors such as Amy Edmondson, Daniel Pink, Simon Sinek, Seth Godin, Steven Johnson, David Epstein, Teresa Amabile, and Michael Lewis.
