Dee Nighthawk is Aniyunwiya and Shawnee. He is a Tribal Member and Citizen of the Cherokee Nation and can trace his Aniyunwiya and Shawnee Ancestors back to the 1600s. His family tree has several chiefs and medicine men, including Chief Dragging Canoe, Chief Tecumseh, Chief Oconastota, Beloved Woman Nanyehi, (Nancy Ward), and Chief Sequoyah who invented the Cherokee written language. During college he read every book he could that was written about Native American History, and realized almost all historical perspectives were written from the Euro-American point of view, and were wrong about many details. Some of the inaccuracies were simply mistakes, but many of those mistakes were purposely written in order to change our history, and turn us into heathens and savages. Besides writing the Wohali series, Dee is also currently writing a book about the effects caused by the European invasion on tribes across North America. Starting with the horrendous effects of Columbus on a continent of loving and happy people. The book continues with the British taking Indigenous lands on the East Coast, and then the Americans continued across the U.S. killing tribal people while stealing their land. Finally the invasion into the West Coast and California. California tribes were first invaded by the Spanish, and then the Mexicans, and finally the Americans. Dee is determined to correct the misconceptions and flat out lies about American Indians. Those lies were used in movies, and more importantly all of that misinformation has been taught by most American schools across the country, and it is still being used in books today. It's time to hear the real history.
