Don Yarber left home (Harrisburg, Il) in 1953 at the age of sixteen, and moved to Detroit. He learned fast that the life of a country boy is a lot different than life in the big city. Gangs, older women, black barber shops, hard work, and broken promises all combined to shape Don's life, and to teach him what life is about. Those experiences were not enough to break his dream, that of writing mystery novels. Fragments of Don's life can be found scattered through the books that he has written.
