Dr. Studer has been a physical therapist since 1991 and has been board certified as a neurologic clinical specialist since 1995. He is a recognized expert in stroke, Parkinson's Disease, motor control, neuroplasticity, behavioral economics, neuropathy and cognition, as related to the profession of PT. Mike has been invited to lecture in all 50 states, 4 continents and 12 different countries. He has received national acclaim as the top clinician in both the neurology and geriatric academies of the American Physical Therapy Association - an award combination that no other person has received. Mike has received the highest honor bestowed by the APTA, having been named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA in 2020. Dr. Studer remains active as a clinical PT, an adjunct professor, a researcher, and a continuing education presenter for keynotes and full-day presentations. Outside of the realm of PT, Mike is an exercise enthusiast, having raced nearly 80 1/2 marathons, 16 marathons, 15 1/2 Ironman Triathlons and countless Olympic distance & sprint triathlons. Mike is the current WR holder for the fastest underwater treadmill marathon, having set this record in 2012 and broken it on three subsequent occasions. As a lifelong student of the brain, athletics and healthspan, Mike authored the 2024 book, "The Brain That Chooses Itself", to serve people with a clear set of applications that they can choose to adopt to improve their lives. This book has received high acclaim, being endorsed by a former US Surgeon General, and the CEO of the International Council on Active Aging.
