Glenda D. Shaw has lived in three countries, eight cities, and through all of these moves she learned about friendship—what it is, what it means, and how to be a better friend. Shaw worked for a weekly newspaper and a theater company in Santa Barbara, California, and then moved to Los Angeles to write movies—arriving in the middle of a writers’ strike. Her bad timing launched a new career in writing and producing for talk television in LA and New York for companies including Viacom, MTV, King World. Shaw also ventured into talk radio, producing a three-hour live morning talk show for Greenstone Media, the first all-female talk radio network in the U.S. Throughout the years Shaw wrote articles for magazines, including "LA Style." In her twenty-five years of working in television production, Shaw was nominated for two Daytime Emmy awards, a Shine and COLA award. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America, Producers Guild of America, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In the last few years she focused on writing "Better You, Better Friends: A Whole New Approach to Friendship" in which she explores how to resolve the challenges friends face with each other. Shaw offers fresh perspectives from her own personal stories and interviews with academics who have conducted research studies in a variety of disciplines—psychology, neuroscience, communication.
