HEATHER MURPHY CAPPS grew up in a small Minnesota town where the motto is: “Cows, Colleges, and Contentment.” She was a television news journalist for 15 years; now she writes middle-grade books about history, social justice, science, magic, and sometimes a touch of mystery. Heather is biracial and passionate about creating more diversity in publishing. In addition to her busy writing schedule, she teaches writing, advocates for education equity, and is an administrator/contributor to the book blog From the Mixed-Up Files … of Middle-Grade Authors, where she created and now curates the series We Need Diverse MG. Her debut novel is INDIGO AND IDA (Carolrhoda Books/Lerner).
