Jane I. Honikman, M.S. was born and raised in Palo Alto, California and graduated with a degree in Sociology from Whittier College (1967). Her passion to support families comes from her own struggles as a new mother. Her books "I'm Listening" (2002) and Community Support for New Families (2013)are pragmatic guides based upon her experience starting Postpartum Support International in 1987. She was honored as a Santa Barbara, California Local Hero in 1996 for co-founding Postpartum Education for Parents (1977). Jane trains and lectures internationally on how a community can respond to the emotional needs of the developing family. In 2004, she was recognized by the National Perinatal Association for her contribution to maternal and child health. Her work was acknowledged by a Welcome Back Award celebrating courage and achievement in the depression community in 2007. She believes that social change only comes about when people work together to advocate collective solutions to their problems.
