João Magueijo was born in Évora, Portugal, in 1967. He got his PhD at Cambridge University and he's currently a Professor of Theoretical Physics at Imperial College, London. He is a pioneer of the varying speed of light theory among other contributions to modern cosmology. He has authored two books, "Faster than the Speed of Light" and "A Brilliant Darkness", and he has translated Rui Cardoso Martins' book "Glad to Die".
