Joe Solmonese (www.joesolmonese.com) is the author of The Gift of Anger. He’s currently the founding partner of Gavin/Solmonese, a firm that provides consulting services to healthy and distressed businesses. Prior to founding Gavin/Solmonese, Joe spent 20 years working in politics and social justice. For 13 years, Joe worked at EMILY’s List, helping to elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to office. Following his time there, Joe served as the President of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization. During his tenure at HRC, Joe played a central role in passing the Mathew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr Hate Crimes Prevention Act, repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and winning marriage equality in seven states. Throughout his career, Joe has encountered people who have vehemently disagreed with the agenda he was advancing and the mission of the organizations he represented. Many of the fights Joe found himself in the middle of would understandably cause most people to become angry, frustrated or disillusioned. Over the years, however, Joe learned to channel his anger in a way that led to positive change. In The Gift of Anger, Joe shares the inspiring stories and important lessons he has learned in an effort to help others work through situations in their own lives that might cause anger.
