John Eaton is a poet and song writer, also a nurse and care home manager. He lives and works in Taunton, Somerset, UK. He has always had an affinity with the English language, and space and time through the lockdown, provided the opportunity to create. He is passionate about encouraging literacy, and love of the English language. Thus far John has written over a dozen Spid the Spider books for children, four anthologies of poems, or what he calls 'proetry', as well as six albums of songs. His Spid the Spider adventures are designed for children from four to ten years. Featuring lots of creative prose, they are great fun for parents to read to, and with, their children, thus helping them learn to read, grow and inspire a determination to succeed. All Spid the Spider books also feature at least two songs with QR codes taking readers to cartoon music video versions of the songs. All books are also supported by free-and-fun activities for children. Some of the themes in John's work are inspired by his life as well as the people, punishment, pathos, and humorous proclamations encountered in his day job. When he left school, he did not know, what if anything, he should be good at. Being one of eight children and growing up on a council estate he did not aspire to higher purpose. Though working in a psychiatric hospital, qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and then as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) led him overseas. Then to establish a successful healthcare training business and subsequently a growing care home in Somerset. Johns poems are both witty and thought-provoking. His first collection of poems 'Thoughts from a Faraway Place' (Austin Macauley) published in 2021, and his second, 'Don't Forget to Flush' publishes in December 2024. Some of these poems are also songs. His third collection, 'Love is in the air', publishes in January 2025. This is a collection of love poems, and again some are also songs. The music was composed mostly by Pete Dymond (who has also written for Sir Paul McCartney and David Essex). You can find John's Spid the Spider albums, and other work, such as 'Under Ukrainian Skies' (which also supports the Ukrainian relief effort) on Amazon Music.
