She has shared her tech expertise at venues including the United Nations, the Computer History Museum, Cambridge University, and Google, and has consulted on projects including Girls Code, and the documentaries The Queen of Code and The Birth of BASIC. Rankin was an Exchange Scholar at MIT while earning her doctorate in History from Yale University, as well as a Visiting Scholar at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She worked at the intersection of technology and education for over a decade.
