I am from Rural Ridge, a village outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I started writing early, and when I was in fifth grade, I won first place in a contest with my paper "Why I love America." I did very well in school, and with a Senatorial Scholarship, I was able to attend The University of Pittsburgh, where I did my B.A. in English (Journalism) and French and my M. A. in English (Creative Writing) and Linguistics (E.S.L.). For my M.A. thesis, I wrote the first novel, which was to become Volume I. of my tetralogy LION MOUNTAIN, "Approach to Freetown." For my creative dissertation for my Ph. D. in English, I wrote the third volume "Incident in Bo." The entire series of four novels is complete and I am in the process of putting them on Kindle. During most of this time, I supported myself by teaching writing and E.S.L. through teaching assistantships and a fellowship. In this series, the protagonist Elizabeth Modra, an American artist, searches for love after an abusive past and the children she desires--without a husband. In her search, she comes across an American artist who brings her to London, a fellow artist in London, a British journalist who introduces her to Sierra Leone--the site of the series--a Sikh anthropology student, an American professor of geology, and a German industrialist and diamond prospector. Will she find the love and children she desires?
