Laverne H. Bardy started her writing career writing press releases for fund raisers and organizations, for the West Essex Tribune. Assignments for Northern Horizons and Montague magazines had her exercising her journalism skills, but it didn't take long for her to realize that straight reporting did not allow for her need to write creatively, and with humor. In 1999 she was offered an opportunity to have her own column, "Laverne's View," in a regional New Jersey newspaper, 50 Plus Monthly. Her humorous, often irreverent, slant on life in general, and aging in particular, drew a large readership. Her writing appears in numerous anthologies and in a college text book. In 2009 her column was picked up for syndication by Senior Wire News Services. In addition she writes for several other publications, including After Fifty Living, Early Retirement Lifestyle and Shrewsbury Lantern. Her book, "How The (Bleep) Did I Get This Old? And other catastrophes that attack and assault when your back is turned," was released in January, 2012. It is a compilation of the best of her columns. Shortly thereafter Huffington Post asked her to join their blogger staff, Carole Marks interviewed her on her national radio talk show, A Touch of Gray, and she was interviewed by Brian Feinblum for Book Marketing Buzz Blog. She was also interviewed twice by Bottom Line Retirement magazine. Bardy speaks to groups about the joys of aging; unfortunately those talks only last about three minutes. Bardy lives in Newton, New Jersey with her husband, Marc Cicchetto, their spoiled Caique parrot, and three stray cats that make her nose run and her eyes itch. Their blended family consists of eight children, nineteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her book is available at www.Amazon.com and various other channels, and can also be read on Kindle. Visit her website at www.lavernebardy.com, and contact her at lavernehb@gmail.com.
