Lisa Karlin is an oncology nurse who has kept a journal all her life. In August 2005, Lisa and her family evacuated New Orleans for what they thought would be a two-day "hurrication." She brought her journal along and used it to record her evacuation experiences and document the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In her debut memoir, Lisa provides a first-hand commentary on how everyday life has been impacted by Hurricane Katrina, and how, even a decade later, there are still lingering effects of one of the most devastating events in American history. She lives in New Orleans with her husband, son, and daughter.
