Inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for her invention of the sports bra, Lisa's life continues to be about positive and empowering change. Lisa's most recent book, "Unleash The Girls" was named a Kirkus "Best Books of 2022" and received a starred review. It tells the unexpected tale of how the sports bra came to be, the ambitions and fears Lisa confronted, and how this invention helped enable women beyond athletic endeavors, facilitating the third-wave feminist movement. Today, the invention of the sports bra is considered one of the primary factors in the remarkable rise of women athletes worldwide and has led to a shift in what is possible for women in all sectors. It is included in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, where archivist Cathy Keen states, “The introduction of the sports bra did more than improve athletes' performances. It represented a revolution in ready-to-wear clothing, and for many women athletes, past, present, and future, it actually made sports possible.” Despite having a lifelong disability, Lisa is a successful entrepreneur, writer, visual artist, and women's health advocate.
