Marcia DeSanctis spent two decades as a news producer for ABC, NBC, 60 Minutes, and the Barbara Walters Specials. A Contributing Writer to Travel + Leisure, she also is a frequent contributor to Vogue, Town & Country, Air Mail, BBC, and has also written for Marie Claire, Departures, Tin House, Creative Nonfiction, O the Oprah Magazine, Roads & Kingdoms, The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine. She has won five Lowell Thomas Awards for excellence in travel journalism, including one for Travel Journalist of the Year, for her essays from Rwanda, France, and Russia, as well as the Solas grand prize in 2021 for the best travel story of the year. She holds a degree from Princeton University in Slavic Languages and Literature and a Master's in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
