Marcus “Goodie” Goodloe was born in South Central Los Angeles, in the city of Compton, California. He attended Centennial High School and was offered full-athletic scholarships from multiple universities around the nation; he selected the University of New Mexico. ​ Goodie was active in student and local government, serving as student regent and student body president in college, as well as a regional coordinator for a national presidential campaign. He served as Co-Coordinator for the National College Voter Registration Day, Co-Founder of the University of New Mexico Gospel Choir, and Co-Founder of the university’s Black History Extravaganza. Goodie was listed in colleges and universities “Who’s Who in America”, was collegiate Academic-All-American, and was a sports broadcaster for Q-13 News (a CBS affiliate). He was a nominee for Albuquerque’s People’s Choice Award, a recipient of the NAACP Gold Medal Award of Merit for outstanding leadership, and he is a graduate of the William and Mary African Leadership Institute. ​ He graduated in 1994 with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication, and in 1997 earned a Master of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco, California. While enrolled at Golden Gate Seminary, Goodie served as Target Group Recruiter and was a member on the President’s Leadership Council; he also was the recipient of the Presidential Leadership Award for Excellence (the only award given at the seminary’s graduation). Goodie concurrently served as Youth Pastor at the historic Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, California, under the pastoral leadership of Dr. J. Alfred Smith, Senior (1996-1999), and later as Youth Pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, under Tony Evans (1999-2005). He earned a Ph.D. from Dallas Baptist University (2011; the first African-American to be awarded such), where his area of focus was on leadership, social movement theory and the legacy and influence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with athletes and entertainers during the Civil Rights Movement. ​ Goodie has been a regular lecturer for Youth Specialties and a national speaker for the Student Song of Solomon, a biblical teaching series on attraction, dating, courtship, and marriage. In May 2006, he joined AWAKEN a team who specialize in the field of developing and unleashing personal and organizational creativity." ​ Since 2008, Goodie has been the featured speaker for major professional and college sports teams and organizations including the Oakland Raiders (Oakland, California), Athletes Performance (Carson, California), Oklahoma Sooners (Championship games), the “Character Dinner” with the nation’s top athletes as part of the culmination of their training in preparations of the National Football League draft (a partnership with Mosaic and Athletes Performance), and the United States Military. He served as the Campus Pastor for Mosaic’s South Bay campus and part of the leadership team with Erwin McManus, which influences over two-thousand adult volunteers on a weekly basis (2006-2012).  Since 2012, Goodie has served as a guest lecturer and adjunct professor at several institutions, including Golden Gate Seminary (Brea, CA), Fuller Seminary (Pasadena, CA), and Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA). At present Goodie serves and mentors with entrepreneurs, educators, and faith community leaders on a range of issues, including culture and interpersonal relationships, leadership, team and synergy, growth and development, character formation, and spirituality. Goodie and his wife of fourteen years, Lucy, live in the Los Angeles area and have two children, Hannah Marie and Joshua C.H.
