Markiyan Kamysh is the Ukrainian novelist who represents the Chornobyl underground in literature. Since 2010, he has been illegally investigating the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. He is the son of a Chornobyl liquidator, nuclear physicist and design engineer of the Institute for Nuclear Research in Kyiv who died in 2003. His debut novel, Stalking the Atomic City. Life among the Decadent and the Depraved of Chornobyl is included in TOP5 books about Chornobyl from Esquire Italia and TOP10 books of 2019 in Italy according to la Repubblica as one of the "Constellations of the ten books that best reflect the spirit of the times".
