Martin Harris is an author and teacher who writes about popular culture, literature, horror film, and poker. An English Ph.D., he teaches in the American Studies program at UNC Charlotte where his courses include "Poker in American Film and Culture" and "Tricky Dick: Richard Nixon, Poker & Politics." He has written two nonfiction books, "Poker & Pop Culture: Telling the Story of America's Favorite Card Game" (a history of poker in America that focuses particularly on the game's representation in film, music, TV, and more) and "Leatherface vs. Tricky Dick: 'The Chain Saw Massacre' as Political Satire" (a minute-by-minute analysis exploring the 1974 film's political commentary, in particular its satire of Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal). He has also written two novels, "Obsessica" and "Same Difference."
