Matt Bille is a consultant, science writer, historian, and novelist based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a dedicated amateur naturalist whose first book, Rumors of Existence, chronicled the world's rarest and least-known animals. He followed that with Shadows of Existence in 2006, and a third book on zoological discovery, Sharks, Seas, and Serpents, is in progress. He is an "Apollo kid" who watched the lunar launches, commanded an Air Force missile crew, and published papers on launch vehicles, microsatellites, and space history. His 2004 book The First Space Race (with Erika Vadnais, with a Foreword by Dr. James Van Allen) was a groundbreaking and well-reviewed history of the world's first satellites. In 2014, his first novel, The Dolmen, was published. If he could be born in another time and place, he'd like to be a 19th-century naturalist exploring remote lands. He still wants to go to Mars.
