Michael B. Blacc is the author of the much anticipated, When We Were Boys, Books I and II, which focus on true events of his childhood and serve as an inspiration to many who have faced the sort of difficulties he did. Born in Newark, New Jersey, the eldest of 3 siblings and more than 40 grandchildren, Michael was sent for periods to live with his grandmother due to his mother’s mental instability. Despite a childhood in which he encountered various forms of abuse, he quickly discovered that he had an aptitude for music, lyrics and creative writing. In 1985, at the age of 9, he and his family left New Jersey to start a new life in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami area of Florida, becoming the youngest lead singer and founder of an R&B Band in South Florida. With Michael’s band providing live performance background singing for 80's pop sensation Stevie B, they were eventually offered a recording contract from Stevie B’s Secret/Epic Records label. When the deal with Secret/Epic didn’t match his expectations, Michael left the band and enrolled in the University of Miami, where he studied the Music and Entertainment Business and where he received a music scholarship, singing Opera and classical music. After completing his studies, he took a job as a Concert Promoter, staging events all across the US and abroad and sharing the limelight with huge stars such as Diddy, Lil Kim, Lil' Cease, Dru Hill, Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Da Lox, The O'Jays, Kelly Price, 112, Usher, Mary J. Blige and many more. After 5 and a half years as a promoter, Michael decided that he had done as much as he could in the demanding and exhausting world of event planning and decided to return to his creative roots, writing fiction and non-fiction stories based around Foundational Black Americans (or African-Americans). Michael’s writing focuses on true events, racial injustices, sexuality, love, intimate relationship and other topics that address particular inflictions within the Foundational Black American community and which serve to exalt Black excellence. His first four books/audiobooks, When We Were Boys, Books I and II, Proti-G In Love (unreleased) and Ajani Badu (unreleased) contain awe-inspiring stories inspired and written about his true life personal experiences.
