An ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and priestess of Obatala and Osun in traditional Yoruba religion, Coleman has earned degrees at Harvard University, Vanderbilt University and Claremont Graduate University. Coleman is Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Delaware.
