I usually tell people that I came into my career in communication and leadership through the back door. I went to school to study music (Opera) and became friends with a couple guys in the school of broadcasting. They asked me if I would mind reading a promo for the radio station on campus… that's where it all started. Next thing I knew, I was hosting a weekly radio show for our university station. I had no clue what I was doing, but it was a lot of fun! That was the start of my passion for communication. My dad once told me, "Get a job doing something you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Maybe your dad said that to you too? Well, that's partially true. Truth be told, sometimes the hours are long, but in the end, it's incredibly satisfying to be part of a creative process that can change people's lives and strengthen businesses. Over the years, I've done thousands and thousands of presentations, ads, film trailers… you name it. I've been the voice for several radio stations and an international tv network for 10 years with over 7000 film trailers in the can! However, the more corporate films and commercials I did, I found myself asking "why do they want to say this?" or "Is this really what needs to be said?" Because the PR and advertising agencies always asked me to look over the script, these were valid questions, and I found myself being invited to join the discussion with the end client. Then, the clients started asking me to help them in our presentations. I felt humbled and longed to give my clients more, so I went back to school and earned a Masters in Communication and Leadership. Sometimes, I think I have the most fun job in the world. For almost four decades, I've had the privilege of helping both individuals and organizations communicate their messages. And when you have this much fun, you just gotta share it. That's why I wrote my book Speak From Your Heart. Hope it helps!
