PETER SMALLEY Peter Smalley was born in Melbourne Australia, and educated at Geelong Grammar School. His late father was a naval officer in WW2, and his late father-in-law sailed as an ordinary seaman on a four masted barque at the end of the era of sailing merchant ships. A great uncle was a merchant ship's captain. Peter Smalley began his professional writing career as an advertising copywriter, moving on into radio, television and movies, and began writing novels. He won the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize for his first novel 'A Warm Gun' (Andre Deutsch, London) His first sea novel was ' Trove ' (Collins,London) His first novel in the HMS Expedient series was ' HMS Expedient', followed by 'Port Royal', 'Barbary Coast', 'The Hawk', 'The Gathering Storm', and 'The Persuit' ( all Century / Arrow ) and later by 'The Marvellous Sea', and 'The Following Wind' ( both on Amazon kdp). His first western, 'Perserverance' is also available on Amazon kdp, as is his latest book 'The Mistake', a dark contemporary satire about a crazy American president. He divides his time between London and the Kentish countryside. He enjoys walking, reading, watching old movies and following many sports on television, notably motor racing.
