I was born and grew up mostly in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and some time in Ft. Worth, Texas. After attending University of Texas at Austin and surviving the turbulent Sixties, I graduated, married, and had three children. We now have 4 grandchildren. I am a retired Secondary School Teacher of English, Spanish and Art, living with my husband of 56 years in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas. I wrote my "first" book when I could hold a piece of chalk to my giant chalkboard that my grandparents gave me. I would "draw" and "talk" and spin many tales. I lived a book life in my child's play, diaries and subsequently blogging. As I began flying lessons, I began to document my experiences with each lesson, coupling them with spiritual applications. My readers began telling me, "Becky, you have a book." A fellow author and long time friend, John L. Moore, said, "Beck you will write a book in 2014, and it will be about flying." I met another aviator, and author who sealed the inspiration to bring the book into reality. Sure enough I wrote my first book in 2014: THE DAY I GREW WINGS. While I am a Private Pilot, I am also into music, piano being my principal instrument followed by guitar and synthesizer. Composing music, like writing and flying, are my passions. My second book, SETTLING IN: At Home in My Skies, Was released in the summer of 2015. A 47-year pilot who's flown little planes, fighter planes and commercial airliners said, upon reading a few chapters: "Becky, this one is going VIRAL!! I mean, it's Gordon Baxterish with true technical knowledge. Any young pilot should read this. It will become a MUST READ for new pilots, and I will buy a supply of them for anyone I teach. The manuals tell you WHAT you need to know. This book will take them through the process." Both of these titles went with me to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where I appeared at the EAA AirVenture for four years in the author corner to give talks and sign my books. It thrilled my heart to see young people grab the gusto for learning to fly. I submitted my first fiction novel for publication in 2016. IT IS TIME is a very exciting fantasy adventure with a highly supernatural and redemptive theme. One of my readers has compared it to the Harry Potter Series, and beyond. AND it includes some fantastic aviation. IT IS TIME is followed by CADENCE: Foot Falls In Eternity, and the most recent release, DENOUEMENT: The Romans 8:28 project. All are intensely contemporary with some really powerful supernatural effects that make it all an adventure with a message. Fair warning. My brain is still imagining new adventures. Will there be a fourth? We shall see. I have also published WHISPERS FROM THE VALLEY which is rich in post WW2 history in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. And two young reader novels BECCA ROSE RIDES WEST and SAN SABA DAZE which could very well become another series. Again we shall see. I have recently written two “as told to” books on the fascinating life of an Indiana Aviator, Lowell Farrand, and have another “as told to” work in progress that will prove to be rich in history and dynamic faith. Stay tuned often. If I am breathing, I will be writing. OR helping someone else write. ************************************************************ BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!! I am still working on grouping my three novels together on this page as a 3 in 1 package sale. AND my “muse” is nudging me quite frequently and the notes are going into my journal for #4 novel. Yes…Zoe may be entering her “golden years” but she is also entering the Golden times of God’s KINGDOM PARADIGM… a deep redemptive work is in the process now…. Let the pen flow, Lord. I am a Ready Writer.
