Hi, I'm Richard and I've been interested in Sport and Exercise for most of my life. I grew up trying many different sports, and rarely keeping to one. As soon as I felt I had improved in one area, I would looking out for the next challenge. I would try sports my friends were playing or perhaps something I watched on TV. I just loved testing myself physically. This process continued with exercise as I transitioned into an adult. I've always been curious about challenging myself and seeing what I'm capable of. This inquisitive nature led me to trying many new activities and entering a variety of competitions. I've entered running races like Half Marathons, Marathons, Ultra Marathons, Obstacle Courses, Off Road, and Mountain Races. I've entered Triathlons, Duathlons, 5km Swims and 100km Bike races. My resting heart rate reached its all-time low of 36 beats per minute, but I wanted to test myself in other areas. I switched my focus onto strength training and experimented with various types of weight training, gymnastics, and functional strength. Predictably, the new trials were quickly followed by me entering competitions in the chosen activity. I entered Powerlifting, Bodybuilding and Olympic Weightlifting events. A life changing moment happened for me when I was first exposed to Crossfit. Finally, I had found an activity that warranted all-around physical ability. You had to be fit, fast, flexible, strong, co-ordinated, powerful, and skilful. This sport was made for me. I could now progress in all facets of fitness, and it would help my overall ability. I now follow a Crossfit training approach to this day. This varied exposure has meant that I've experienced what it's like as a beginner in many activities. When I first got into a sport, I found 'New Starter' guides hard to come by or lacking in quality. I decided to write my own and to help other people that are new to that particular field. The aim of my books are to be easy to understand, easy to follow, informative, and entertaining. They're targeted towards beginners who have had either zero experience or very little in each area. I hope you enjoy the books, expand your knowledge, and continue to improve in your chosen field. All the best! Richard
