Rogelio Cervantes was born in Mission, Texas to immigrant parents from Mexico. He is a first generation U.S. Citizen who proudly served in the U.S. Military. He is a veteran with a disability who enjoys writing stories as part of his PTSD Therapy. Upon entering elementary school, his teachers wanted to quickly change his name from Rogelio to Roger. With a subtle defiance, he refused to respond to this name change, somehow understanding at such a young age the significance of his identity. He quickly acquired the English language and developed a love for reading. The first novel he ever read in elementary school was Don Quixote, simply because he shared the same last name as the author. His love for reading helped him develop a great imagination and a love for creating his own stories. He also shares a love for cooking and creating new recipes. One of his latest creations is a unique authentic Mexican salsa which he began producing and eventually led to him launching the world's best tasting salsa company under the name CASA CERVANTES. Rogelio is the author of A TEXAS STORY and lives in McAllen, Texas. He has been married to his beautiful wife Cynthia for 32 years and has two sons Roy and Aaron. He is currently working on his second Novel and a sequel to A TEXAS STORY. He enjoys interacting with readers and can be contacted at islandofpraise@yahoo.com
