Stephen Weller lives in Texas with his wife, Mary. He enjoys spending time in bookstores, participating in fan conventions, and attending concerts. He works in healthcare, grateful to work in an industry that helps others. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a movie director to help bring joy and wonder to the world, but his journey led him down a different road. Fortunately, the roads of reality and dreams converged when he was asked to contribute to a book that focused on surgical service lines. Eventually, Stephen would write his own books. He self-published his first book, The Progressive Machine: Before We Called It Lean, in December 2019. Soon after, he was picked up by Warren Publishing. In July, 2021, he published the second edition of his first book, and The Progressive Hospital: A Lean Hope. Whereas his first book was a nonfiction, The Progressive Hospital was written as an educational thriller to talk about the lessons he learned from working with over fifty hospitals on their surgical programs across the Americas for over a decade. These first two books became required reading for at least one college program. Both books earned Firebird Book Awards from Speak Up Talk Radio. The success of The Progressive Hospital as a fictional story led Stephen to partner with his wife to finish a book that he began in October 2005; a Young Adult Science Fiction novel. Seventeen years later, in January 2023, Kantara | The Traveler was published earning two Firebird Awards: YA Science Fiction and YA Time Travel.
