Susan Hilliard Gibson is an avid gardener and the author of Self-Sufficiency Guide. She is retired, enabling her to dedicate more time to her family and passions; writing and gardening. Having grown up in the country in a small town called Moore Haven, Florida, in Glades County, she loves all things country. Susan has been passionate about the natural world since she was a teenager and has always found a way to weave gardening and livestock rearing into her life. Her books focus on gardening and self-sufficiency, intending to help readers become more self-sufficient, one skill at a time. She believes that every small step can bring a family closer to independence and enjoys the opportunity to share her progress with others. She maintains a productive vegetable garden, a dedicated rose garden, and an abundant flower garden. She is eager to propel her family towards self-sufficiency. She is now working on a plan to buy solar panels, batteries, and other supplies to install at home.
