Suzanne Rayfield Chilton McKenzie graduated from Eminence High School with ancestral roots grown deep into Missouri soil. She attended Missouri State University and graduated Illinois State University in Mathematics, and then earned a Masters in Information Management from Washington University School of Engineering. She lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida. In 2004, after long careers in technical fields, she retired back to Shannon County to a high ridge overlooking the land of her ancestors--now the home of Ozark National Scenic Riverways. She decided to turn family memoirs, letters, genealogy, and official records into a novel as a fundraiser at the local Museum and other venues. Her late husband Danny Lee Chilton served as editor. Voice actor, Kevin Crow prepared the audio book on Audible. She now lives in Florida with husband Roderick (Rick) W. McKenzie, a published poet. Thank you to collaborative researchers and literary friends and family for this historical fiction remembrance of the Civil War in the Ozarks, as seen through the eyes of the young John J. Chilton and his first cousins, Alexander and Elizabeth Davis Chilton.
