Native Czech speaker Vanda Vaníčková is the author of Simple Czech. Her work is dedicated to teaching the Czech language in a fun way, designed for optimum retention and understanding. Vanda was born in Czechoslovakia, the country now known as the Czech Republic. She moved to the United States in her early 20s, specifically to improve her English skills and learn about American culture. She had no idea at that time that she would build a life in the US, but when she met the man who would become her husband, she never looked back. 22 years later, she still lives in the States with her English-speaking husband and two daughters. It was this family setup that inspired Vanda to write language books. She found herself constantly searching for simple tools to help her husband and children learn Czech so that they could communicate with her family. After extensive research and a long journey of figuring out what worked best for her whole family (regardless of their age), she wrote, published, and narrated Simple Czech in order to help other families pick up the language when their lives are already filled with other commitments. Vanda is an entrepreneur with a background in chemistry. She lives with her husband and two children and takes every opportunity she can to teach them more about her home country and its language.
