I began to be attracted to understanding sociology when I was a child reading biographies from the library of strong women such as Joan of Arc and Eleanor Roosevelt. My first job in college was working for a sociology professor, and one of my first classes at college was Sociology 101. My love of sociology increased when I became involved in the anti-war movement and the Women's Liberation Movement in 1970. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Indiana University with a minor in Political Science. I then moved from the Midwest to Tucson, Arizona, where I have lived most of my life since college. Because of my love of sociology, I taught in-person classes of "Women in Society" at Pima Community College in Tucson for 10 years. Understanding the sociology of America and the world, I knew that global climate change would be an issue, and when I was 41 years old, I earned my Master's degree in Public Administration with a specialization in solar policy from the University of Arizona. I became an advocate for solar energy, serving as the Chair of Concerned Arizonans for Renewable Energy (CARE) (an organization that introduced solar and energy efficiency legislation in the Arizona Legislature), the President of the Arizona Solar Energy Association, a member of the Tucson-Pima County Metropolitan Energy Commission that advised the City Council and Board of Supervisors on energy issues, and one of the authors of the Energy Plan for the City of Tucson. As a sociologist, I have followed politics for many years because politics is a reflection of the sociology of American society. When I became 21 years of age, I registered as a Democrat because I understood that the Democratic Party stood for the principles that the social sciences indicate are generally the healthiest for individuals and society as a whole. I worked as the Outreach Director of the Pima County Democratic Party in 2005-2006 and later volunteered as the Chair of the PC Committee to train new precinct committeepeople. I am most recently the former 2nd Vice Chair of the Pima County Democratic Party. I was inspired to write this book because I saw how concerned and upset many of my friends were when discussing the politics of America today. When I explained the concepts of the New Paradigm in America and what the 80-year cycle of transformation is, my friends were excited to see the light at the end of the dark tunnel we are in. In addition to writing "The 80-Year Cycle of Transformation: Why Liberals Are Winning," I am the co-author of the book "Self-Esteem for Dummies" in the "Dummies" series. I teach online courses on assertiveness, self-confidence, and teamwork and coach individuals around the world on developing assertiveness and self-confidence skills.
