William Henry Forester was born in 1950 in the coastal town of Inverness, Scotland. As the son of a fisherman, his early life was intertwined with the sea, rocky cliffs, and ancient tales. In 1968, when he was just eighteen, a twist of fate led him to board the ship 'Celtic Maiden' bound for America. Life in Maine was not easy initially. The cultural difference, the harshness of Maine’s coastal winters and the lack of close family were difficult, but he found solace in the similarities between Scotland and Maine; both places were shaped and nurtured by the sea. The coastlines of Maine, with their jagged rocks, thick mists, and lighthouses, reminded him of Scotland. This inspired him to begin writing poetry. Forester’s writing beautifully blends Scottish, Irish, and American elements, and he writes extensively about life in Maine, and about living on the rugged Maine Coast. In Scots Rugadh William Henry Forester i 1950 i mbaile cósta Inbhir Nis, Albain. Mar mhac iascaire, bhí a shaol luath fite fuaite leis an bhfarraige, aillte carraigeacha, agus seanscéalta. I 1968, agus é díreach ocht mbliana déag d’aois, d’fhág casadh cinniúint air dul ar bord na loinge ‘Celtic Maiden’ a chuaigh go Meiriceá. Ní raibh an saol i Maine éasca ar dtús. Ba dheacair an difríocht chultúrtha, cruas geimhreadh cósta Maine agus easpa dlúth-theaghlaigh, ach fuair sé solace sna cosúlachtaí idir Albain agus Maine; bhí an dá áit á múnlú agus á gcothú ag an bhfarraige. Chuir imeallbhord Maine, lena gcarraigeacha garbha, ceocháin tiubha, agus tithe solais, Albain i gcuimhne dó. Spreag sé seo é chun tosú ag scríobh filíochta. Cumascann scríbhneoireacht Forester gnéithe Albanacha, Éireannacha agus Meiriceánacha go hálainn, agus scríobhann sé go forleathan faoin saol i Maine, agus faoi chónaí ar chósta garbh Maine.
