Forbidden love, undeniable desire....

Davina Montgomery is no ordinary English lady. For her own protection, she’s been locked away from society, her true identity the Crown’s most closely guarded secret. Until a shocking betrayal—and a bold rescue—land her in the arms of a fierce Highlander, a powerful warrior whose searing gaze and tantalizing touch awaken her body and soul.

As the firstborn son of a powerful Scottish laird, Robert MacGregor has no loyalty to the English throne, but he’s not the kind of man to leave a woman in distress, even if she is English. He vows to deliver Davina to safety, unharmed and untouched. Yet one stolen kiss leaves them both smoldering with desire and desperate for more. With Davina’s secret threatening to destroy his clan, Rob must choose between everything he holds dear and the one woman he can’t live without.

I am shamelessly addicted to Scottish Highlander books. That being said this was the absolute worst narration I have ever heard in my life. In no way was this anything resembling a Scots accent. Yowza. Unfortunately, the main characters voice was so whiney and annoying I often had to stop listening for a while and start it back up when I was desperate and had nothing else.

The story was alright but if there had been better narration I think I would have been able to get more into it.

YIKES. Terrible narrator.

The story moved quickly before you could assume what would happen next. loved the characters, and loved that it was light, not melodramatic, didn't have to sit through tangents that writers get on with descriptions on the sky, or a rock, etc. it was a joy.

an absolute pleasure

If you could sum up Ravished by a Highlander in three words, what would they be?

The first two-thirds of the book moves along very slow. You keep waiting for some action, any action to start. The last third is very good but it is hard to stay with it to the end. That saved the story. Worth the read, but not the most exciting book.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not time well spent, just a way to pass the hour drive into work waiting on the next Iron Druid to come out.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The narration was horrible! While I admit to being spoiled by Davina Porter reading the Outlander series, the Scottish accent in this book made it almost painful.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carrington MacDuffie’s performances?

The narrator had a good voice and would listen to her do a strictly English story, but not Scottish, never again.

Did Ravished by a Highlander inspire you to do anything?

ahhh, nope.

Really???

Rob finds himself rescuing a novice nun, who is a princess in hiding, but now is being hunted. He is her safety, and love. The narrator is wonderful, the accents were spot on and the differing inflections for so many characters, brought them to life.

Davina Montgomery was hid away as a child.
Robert McGregor came upon danger, and was
able to save Davina. Get ready for betrayal,
Captain's who didn't protect, hidden secrets,
Kings, Brawny Highlanders and the
Ladies they love and protect!

Paula Quinn, thank you loved this book!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Although I enjoyed the storyline... it was buried under layers and layers and layers of repetitive discriptions of feelings, body discriptions, emotions... etc
Like I said the story was good, it would have been better had the author limited her discriptions. Towards the end it felt like she was just filling pages. It became a little frustrating.

Quite enjoyable

Ravished by the Highlander was entertaining (and steamy in a couple of spots). The antagonist was heard throughout the story. And what I really liked is that even to the very end, the story wasn't predictable. It was refreshing and I enjoyed it.

There is some "meat" in the story, too, in the form of historic political connections/relationships that you have to pay attention to to really understand why some decisions are made. With this in mind, this isn't just a fluffy little story.

Carrington MacDuffie is an excellent narrator in this book. The mens voices were each very different and believable. She wasn't forced and was very conversational. I enjoyed her reading almost more than any other I've heard.

Unexpected storyline... superb narrator!

This is an okay story, I give it a 3.5 overall. The narrator was good, some of the accents weren't great but she did a pretty good job. There didn't seem to have much depth to the romance. The main characters seemed to be instantly in love but not a lot of lead up, I was starting to wonder when the ravishing would begin, finally something started to happen. I am not a fan of the heroine, she is perfect, can do no wrong and can make any man fall instantly in love with her. Pleassse. She must be a saint or a "beguiling angel spun from the harp strings of heaven". The story did pick up and I enjoyed the ending better than the beginning. I don't know if I will continue on with the remaining series. Probably if they come on sale, but I won't be rushing to get the next one.

Sweet, but not great.
